If you are in the desert, wet a small towel wet, swing it around your head (it will cool off) and put it around your neck. It will cool you down pretty quickly. If you warm up again, repeat. Also cover uo and keep the sun off your skin. Think like a bedouin, dress in loose layers and cover up.

I guess I’ll have to look at newer videos to see what you have done. I hope it involves the tip given to have a second roof above your houses - I’ve seen this in similar climates with terrific results. Be sure to have a lot of overhang to get the maximum cooling.

Last but not least… do not use metal siding. It’s horrible as insulation plus it radiates heats toward inside the house and so does in the winter with cold. I’m sorry to say it but that was a very poor taste to put that metal siding when it comes down to preserving temperatures!

Low desert, 114 today gets 119 here in summer, no breeze usually, no ac, no swamp cooler. Simple way, use a well ventilated tent/screen room, shade, hardest shade possible above and away from tent/structure/you, hydrate, climatize, get a excellent fan. Advanced, same as above, but use water to cool your structure, roof and walls, really anything, and or have a structure that can hold nights coolness, good luck, it needs to be seriously thick! Plant vegetation, trees take time but shade, vines can wick heat and grow fast. Can pipe water underground deep to cool and recirculate but if you want evap cooling warmer water evaps quicker! Do not chill swamp cooler water. Get yourself wet! Seriously get a commercial fan and just sit under hard shade, get wet, it's basic folks. My pitbull has ac in his dog house, and I have a fan and shade🤣. You can start digging if you want, not a bad idea, but it all depends on time and resources what you can do, good luck desert rats!

When I was stationed in southern Florida, I noticed what the native americans had very tall carport type shelters. The heat was way up high and you were in the shade. Smart. Now put a battery to store your electricity, then put your water tank up higher. Then you can plumb in doors and have some water pressure.

I grew up in Oklahoma in the late 50s, early 60s and back then, NOBODY had a/c. If you have EVER been in Oklahoma, summers ALWAYS feature many days over 100 degrees F. What we had was a large attic with a good-sized attic fan. We pulled cool air through the attic early in the morning, then shut the fan off, closed the house and then later in the day, we opened north-facing windows, turned the fan on to suck out the warm air that built up during the day in the attic. Was our house 74 degrees F? NO! But it was reasonable. Attic fans WORK if you remember, warm air rises, cold air sinks. The air near your ceiling (or in your attic) in summer is the "bad place" and if you can exhaust that hot air at crucial times, then you've kept your house cooler with nothing more than air movement.

I live in the High Desert at 4,000 ft. in Southern California, technically part of the Mojave Desert, and it ALWAYS cools down here at night unless there is a heatwave which is only a once or twice per summer event, usually lasting only 3-4 days. I have a metal security screen door on my front door and what I do is I leave my front door wide open all night, with windows cracked all over the house. I use dowels in the window tracks for security. By morning, my house is totally cooled down. For example, this morning, June 21, it was 66° inside at 5:00 a.m. It was 58° outside. I kept an eye on the outside temperature as it gradually increased with the rising sun. As soon as the outside temperature was within 3-4 degrees of the inside temperature, I closed the front door and all of the windows. I closed all of blinds and drew all of the curtains, most especially on the sunny side of the house. Now, it will stay comfortable inside until mid-afternoon when I will turn on my low-watt swamp cooler and crack all the windows on the opposite side of the house. This will be the first summer of having the swamp cooler run solely on solar, so I am really looking forward to great savings on my electric bill. Of course I live in a house with pretty good insulation -- it's just a basic home, nothing really expensive either. Not sure how well this would work in a home that was not so well insulated.

You might be able to make a swamp cooler setup. If your not familiar with swamp coolers. Just look them up here on you tube. Plenty of videos. Also if you have a little power to spare from your electrical system. Get a shop-vac. Throw a bag or 2 of ice in it. Or your Ice packs. Install the hose opposite than normal ( side that blows). Than you have a hillbilly AC unit. If the noise of the shop-vac drives you crazy. As it would drive me crazy. Put it out side. Obviously preferably out of the sun. Run the hose inside the window. Make a small styrofoam (or whatever you got) to block the open area of the window. Where the hose comes in. Might be worth a shot.
